According to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors, the Toronto Blue Jays have re-signed Munenori Kawasaki.  The contract is a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training.

Munenori Kawasaki batted .229 with one home run and 24 RBIs in 240 at bats for the Blue Jays in 2013.  He is a utility infielder who plays shortstop and second base.

Kawasaki has a career .218/.306/.279 slash in two seasons in the majors.  In 2012, Kawasaki played for the Seattle Mariners.  Kawasaki had a noticeable uptick in his numbers in 2013, although he needs to continue improving.

He seems to be a great player to have in the clubhouse, as witnessed by numerous interviews on Youtube.

My favorite interview is when Kawasaki explains to a crowd of Toronto faithful after a game that he is from Japan.  Kawasaki can liven any room he walks into, and hopefully, he can give the Blue Jays a boost as they battle for the AL East crown in 2014.

Great Kawasaki interviews:

I am Japanese.

Kawasaki talking about Joey Bats.

Kawasaki as campaign manager for Steve Delabar.
