Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly has confirmed that quarterback Andrew Hendrix has asked for his release from his scholarship.  Hendrix has graduated and would like to be able to go to another school where he could play quarterback instantly.  Because he has graduated, he is able to go to any school that has the Master’s Degree he would like to pursue and play immediately.

Hendrix knows that Everett Golson is coming back after being out off of the team and out of the school for an academic violation.  Golson is presumed to be the unquestioned starter after being under center when the Fighting Irish went to the National Championship.  Hendrix threw 58 passes in his career in South Bend, completing 25 of them for 360 yards for a touchdown and two interceptions in his career.

To this point, it is unclear where Hendrix would like to attend next year.  Golson and Malik Zaire will be the top two quarterbacks for Notre Dame next year as they try to rebound from a clunky year and get back to fighting for a championship.
