Detroit Lions’ Calvin Johnson missed practice, Joique Bell returned as expected

The Detroit Lions looked as if they were in great position to win the NFC North but have slipped out of contention over the last couple of weeks.

They were eliminated by the New York Giants in a heartbreaking overtime loss last Sunday and will now look to just end the season on a good now. I’m sure they would rather have the division title under their belts, but start a winning streak on Week 17 and carry it into the 2014 season.

Now as they prepare themselves to play the final game of their season, wide receiver Calvin Johnson did not practice today.

Calvin was limited during Week 16 as he only played on passing downs and in the red zone. He’ll more than likely sit out the final game since the team isn’t playing for the division title.

Running back Joique Bell took a rest day yesterday but has returned to practice for the Detroit Lions today while Johnson sat out. He should pick up most of the workload on Sunday.

Hi David. Do you have any sources that have said Joique Bell will be getting most of the workload or is it just conjecture based on last week? Gotta decide between him and Chris Johnson in one of my fantasy leagues and I would start Bell if I wasn’t worried that Week 16 may have just been a one-game reaction to Bush’s fumbling issues. Thanks for your help.

Bush could be playing most of the passing downs which will give Bell majority of the running downs. I don’t think they’re going to be pushing Bush to do a whole lot in the run game with Megatron sitting on the sidelines.
