Last night, BBC aired its annual Doctor Who Christmas Special. This year’s event was known as “The Time of the Doctor.” There were many ups and downs from last night’s episode; however, there was one unavoidable moment…the regeneration of The Doctor. Now that Whovians have had an opportunity to say goodbye to the Eleventh Doctor, let’s take a look back at a deleted scene from the episode.
Warning: Spoilers ahead. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, well…what are you waiting for? Go do that!
As you know if you have already seen the episode, Clara walks in the TARDIS to find a completely naked Doctor. One who is surprisingly unashamed to be walking around with absolutely no clothes on.
Clara was a little thrown off by his nakedness, and as such, he decided to enlist the aid of a holographic projector that would make it seem as if he is wearing clothes.
The two of them exit the TARDIS on their way to meet Clara’s family. This would be the first time the Doctor has ever met Clara’s family…and he’s naked.
Clara tells the Doctor about her disdain for Christmas.
“So, you don’t like Christmas?” the Doctor asks. “Christmas is a whole year of my family in one meal. Turkey’s only there to stop them from eating each other.”
He tells Clara that perhaps she isn’t reading the jokes in the crackers, as those are amazing.
She stops turns to face him. “I missed you.” Clara says. “I missed you too, Clara Oswald.” He replies.
After that, the two of them hug it out. Unfortunately, their little moment is quite fleeting. Soon, she remembers that he is not wearing any clothes.
She grabs him by the shoulders and slightly pushes him away.
“What?” he asks. “Naked,” she says as she very quickly looks him up and down.
As Clara starts to walk away from him, heading back towards her house, the Doctor laughs, flips his sonic screwdriver into the air and says, “Yes, I am.”
No words on a page can convey the simple hilarity of that scene, so here is a look for yourself courtesy of BBC America.
Series 8 of Doctor Who is scheduled to begin filming soon, and will premiere in late 2014 on BBC America.
