After missing two games with an ankle injury (and playing hampered in a handful more prior to taking time off), Houston Rockets guard James Harden returned with a bang on Christmas Day, posting an impressive 28 points alongside six rebounds and six assists in 42 minutes.
Needless to say, it appeared his bum ankle looked quite healthy – a sentiment Harden shared after his impressive performance:
“It’s better now,” said Harden, who played 42 minutes, scoring 28 points with six assists and six rebounds. “I’m healthy now. It’s frustrating to kind of keep going in and out, but hopefully it goes away for good and for the rest of the season.”
Harden’s status for Christmas Day’s game was only determined a few hours prior to tip, so impressive performance aside, he’s still in a bit of a recovery stage.
The Rockets host the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday evening, so it’s possible Houston may attempt to play it safe with their high profile guard and limit his minutes as to not overwork the recovering ankle injury.
