The New Orleans Saints need a victory over the Tampa Bay  Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon to assure themselves a spot in the postseason.

The Saints blew a late lead, allowing the Carolina Panthers to score on the final drive last week, giving the Panthers a 17-13 victory and the NFC South Championship.

Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees has apparently been bothered by a knee injury and was listed as limited at practice Wednesday.

On Thursday, Brees was a full participant.

“He’s fine,” Saints head coach Sean Payton told Mike Triplett of ESPN.com Thursday. “He had a right knee bruise. There’s nothing more to it than that. And yet we thought it was best [if] we limited the amount of snaps he’s getting. … We just felt like we had a day to do that.”

Brees has been extremely durable throughout his entire career and this was the first time he has appeared on the Saints’ injury report this year.

On the season, Brees has completed 422 of 619 passes for 4,781 yards with 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
