No. 20 San Diego State leading 63-17 at the half

The San Diego State Aztecs are absolutely crushing St. Katherine College with a halftime score of 63-17 at Viejas Arena in San Diego, CA.  The 9-1 Aztecs are shooting 62.9% from the field and have hit eight of ten shots from beyond the arc.

This is a warmup game for SDSU as they come off their Christmas break.  There is a good chance the game may turn into one of the all time lobsided victories for the Aztecs.

I’m not sure how much a game like this tells a coaching staff what they need to work on, but winning can never hurt, right?  St. Katherine is only hitting 22.6% of its shots from the field, so the coaches cannot get angry about poor defense, right?

The second half is starting, and I hope the starters stay on the bench for the final 15 minutes.  Time to let the practice squad get some serious PT.

The Aztecs are the only ranked team in the Mountain West Conference.  They begin conference play at the Colorado State Rams (8-4) on January 1st.  There are plenty of good teams in the Mountain West, including New Mexico, Boise State, and UNLV.  SDSU will need to play well in conference play to hold on to their top ranking, and earn a spot in March Madness.
