Apparently, Dwight Howard isn’t as popular as he likes to think he is.

According to Tim Bontemps, the World Wide Leader has dropped the Houston Rockets – Los Angeles Lakers game scheduled for January 8th, a game that will mark Dwight Howard’s return to Los Angeles.

So what game will be replacing the Rockets at Lakers? None other than the Phoenix Suns at the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Sign of the apocalypse: on Jan. 8, Lakers-Rockets will no longer be on ESPN. Instead? Suns-Wolves.

Wait a second. The Lakers have been bumped off national TV? In a game where Dwight Howard takes on his old teammates for the first time? And it’s being replaced by two small market teams? Maybe the Mayan’s were just a few years off with their prediction.

In fairness, the Lakers are going to be without Kobe Bryant and the Suns/Wolves game should be pretty good considering both teams are relatively solid, but that’s certainly an interested decision to remove the game from the national broadcast schedule.
