The Virginia Tech Hokies are going to face one of the more dynamic offenses they’ve faced all season when they take on the UCLA Bruins in the Sun Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Just dealing with Bruins QB Brett Hundley alone is a chore.
On Saturday, we found out that that chore will be just a little harder to deal with as there’s a real possibility that they’ll be without both starting cornerbacks for the showdown.
First, the team announced on their official twitter account today that All-ACC CB Antone Exum, who’s battled injuries for the better part of the last calendar year, didn’t practice today, and he will be out on Tuesday, ending his career in Blacksburg:
Antone Exum is not dressed out for practice and Coach Gray says he won’t play Tuesday. Ky Fuller will be evaluated as the week goes on.

To make matters worse, head coach Frank Beamer then alluded to the possibility that the starter on the other side, Kyle Fuller, may also be absent on Tuesday as he deals with a core muscle injury:
Frank Beamer says CB Kyle Fuller is "very doubtful" for the Sun Bowl too. Started out OK today, then didn't do much. #Hokies

Two big blows for a defense that, again, will need all hands on deck if they want to pull off the postseason upset on Tuesday in El Paso.
