Currently inside Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are taking on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in this year’s edition of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Just a little before kickoff, Notre Dame announced that starting running back George Atkinson had been suspended from the team and would not be partaking in today’s festivities.

As usual, all we knew about the suspension was the usual–Atkinson had violated some sort of team rule that we’ll probably never know about.

Well, fortunately for us, Atkinson shed some light on exactly why he’s not allowed to suit up and run the rock today for the Irish.

Atkinson took to twitter and gave a brief explanation. He immediately deleted it, however the fellows over at were able to capture a screen shot:

Again, he immediately deleted this, probably because he quickly realized that playing around with his cell phone was what got him in hot water in the first place, and Brian Kelly doesn’t seem like the type of coach you want to continually anger.
