Former Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla pleaded guilty to cocaine possession after the felony drug charge kept him out of football for the last two months.

According to the Eugene Register-Guard, Lyerla  was arrested Oct. 23 after he pulled into a bank parking lot and happened to park nose-to-nose with a car occupied by an undercover police detective working on an unrelated narcotics case. The officer observed Lyerla snort a white substance that later tested positive for cocaine.

"“No matter what the outcome, I’m going to use this experience to become a better person,” Lyerla told the judge."

The tight end was sentenced to 10 days in jail and will be on probation for the next two years. He was also ordered to enroll in a drug treatment program.

Lyerla is hoping his next stop will be the NFL, but prior to his plea, the judge would not allow him to move to Las Vegas in order to train. Now, after he serves his jail time, Lyerla will be free to chase his NFL dreams.

Lyerla only had two catches for 26 yards for the Ducks this season. Last year he had 25 receptions for 392 yards and six touchdowns.
