The Miami Heat and mainly Chris Bosh have popularized the videobombing trend. The trio of superstars, including LeBron James and Dwyane Wade have gone to elaborate measures to try and one-up the other’s video bombs. We’ve seen this led to, acting like baseball pitchers and wheel barrows.
It has been kept out of the NHL for the most part though, that is in part because of how hard it is to conduct post game interviews. Reporters and broadcasters can’t walk out onto the ice because of the risk of falling and injuring oneself.
That means interviews are conducted in hallways against walls for the most part. Well, Evgeni Malkin found a way to videobomb an interview. Teammate James Neal scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Carolina Hurricanes and was getting a little media love after the game.
The interview is in a tunnel when Malkin just runs up behind him excitedly and kind of pumps his fists in the air like a fan would do behind a broadcast.
A good start NHL, but you got a lot of catching up to do.
