Rappers want to be basketball players. Basketball players want to be rappers. It’s not exactly a new concept.

Sure, there have been some mildly successful crossovers like Shaquille O’Neal and Joe Smith who found success in the music business (especially Smith), but as a general rule of thumb – most NBA players can’t rap.

Of course, most aren’t Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant.

The Durantula isn’t exactly new to the rap scene as he’s appeared on a handful of tracks in recent memory though his newest feature on ‘Whole Life’ which features a collection of talented Oklahoma based rappers (Josh Sallee, CL McCoy and Privaledge) isn’t half bad – at least not for an athlete.

Durant, who opens the song, has a solid verse which meshed well with his flow on the soulful beat.

Be advised, some of the lyrical content isn’t exactly safe for work or children.

Overall though, pretty solid effort from Durant who could have a second career if that whole basketball thing doesn’t work out.
