Pacers’ Lance Stephenson could command $9 million in free agency

The Indiana Pacers will have a handful of roster moves to consider this coming offseason, which includes the impending free agency of Lance Stephenson.

A fourth-year guard, Stephenson will be looking to cash in come free agency and according to Chris Mannix of SI, stands to do so as rival executives across the league believe Stephenson will command an annual salary of $7 to $9 million dollars:

Rival execs predicting Lance Stephenson will be worth between $7 and $9 million per season in a multi year deal this summer

Given some of the deals we’ve seen across the league the last few seasons, that not exactly ‘expensive’ but then again it’s not cheap either.

Unfortunately for the Pacers, keeping Stephenson at that type of salary would put them into the luxury tax so the team would need to get crafty financially to stay out of the tax.

It’s certainly a bit of risk to throw that kind of money towards Stephenson considering he’s not a star, but he’s a fantastic glue player who can help any team. It’s just a matter of value for Indiana.
