There is no doubt in my mind than when Anderson Silva’s leg connected with Chris Weidman’s knee everyone watching UFC 168 stopped, dropped their jaws, gasped, and screamed something along the lines of “Whoa!” or “Ouch!” The same can be said for other UFC fighters.
Rener Gracie is the Head Instructor at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, grandson of Helio Gracie, the creator of Gracie Jiu-itsu, and second eldest son of Rorion Gracie, the man responsible for bringing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to the United States. He is also one of the men who helped UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey prepare for her showdown with her arch nemesis Miesha Tate at UFC 168.
After Rousey’s third round submission over Tate, they headed to the back to watch the rest, relax, and watch the final bout of the night; Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman 2.
Of course, we all know that this did not end well for Silva.
After the fight, Rener Gracie took to Instagram to show a video of Team Rousey as they reacted to the horrific scene as Silva’s leg snapped upon impact. I think it is safe to say, they felt much the same way that we did.
Take a look for yourself.
Do you think this is the end of the line for Silva, or do you think he’ll be able to get back in the octagon once again? Furthermore, is this something Silva will even desire? Let us know what you think.
