Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin reportedly drawing interest from NFL franchises

Hold on to your seats, Texas Longhorn fans, the National Football League is trying to steal your thunder–and by thunder, I mean one of your top head coaching prospects to take over for Mack Brown.

According to Ian Rappaport of NFL.com, not only is the James Franklin the top choice for the Longhorns to head up their program, now he’s drawing some serious attention from NFL franchises that are looking to fill their vacancies:

Franklin’s name has been rampant in the media world, lately, and it has literally nothing to do with his Vandy team’s upcoming Compass Bowl contest.

No, Franklin has been at the forefront of the Texas search, and now with the recent news of Bill O’Brien possibly leaving Pennn State for the NFL, he’s been rumored as a top candidate for the the Nittany Lions, as he’s from the state of Pennsylvania.

This news isn’t shocking by any means as he’s been the hot name, but Franklin possibly taking a pro position could cause a huge ripple effect in the college football landscape.
