LSU DT Ego Ferguson rumored to be suspended for Outback Bowl per report

LSU is set to face Iowa in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day, but reports are suggesting they may be doing it without their starting defensive tackle Ego Ferguson.  There is no indication as to why, but multiple outlets are running this.  The Bayou Bengals are already hurting without quarterback Zach Mettenberger, out with an ACL tear and the defense is not what it has been in recent years, so losing Ferguson could be costly.

The 6’3″ 309lb junior has recorded 18 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, sack, three pass deflections and a blocked kick this season in Baton Rouge.  Ferguson fills a huge hole in the middle of that defense and would be a significant loss in their run defense.  The Hawkeyes will presumably be trying to establish the run much of the game, so not having Ferguson in their way would certainly not hurt their cause.  There is also a chance Ferguson could declare for the NFL Draft, so if that were to happen, this would have been his last game in an LSU uniform.
