If Terrell Suggs wants to play for the Baltimore Ravens next season, he’ll likely need to agree to take a pay cut and/or restructure his contract – this according to the Baltimore Sun.

The cash-strapped Ravens don’t have much cap room to play with and Sugg’s $12.5 million dollar figure simply isn’t workable for the Ravens, who will attempt to re-tool this offseason thus the need to lower his salary for the 2014 season:

"There is no question the defense will have some moving parts this offseason. I would imagine Smith is brought back at a reasonable contract. I also think the Ravens would like to see more of Arthur Brown and Courtney Upshaw. Suggs will probably have to restructure his contract or take a pay cut this offseason if he wants to remain with the Ravens."

The veteran linebacker has continually been among the elite defenders in the NFL for years on end, though seemingly struggled during portions of the 2013 season.

Now 31, there’s questions as to how effective Suggs will be moving forward – which will likely be on a cheaper contract assuming he continues his career in Baltimore.
