Toronto Raptors may change team colors because of rapper Drake

Earlier this season, the Toronto Raptors hired ‘rapper’ (sorry Biggie, 2Pac) Drake as their ‘global ambassador’ in hopes of emerging their brand.

For what it’s worth, Drake has stepped up to the plate and isn’t just being used for his name as the MC has worked directly with the team on a handful of items, which could potentially include a new color scheme.

According to the Toronto Sun, the Raptors could be changing their team colors in the near future and may opt to go with black and gold, an ode to Drake’s OVO brand.

A report Monday said a black and gold scheme has emerged as a contender and that makes sense, since global ambassador Drake has built his OVO brand around those colours. An advertisement on raptors.com for “Drake Night” at the ACC on Jan. 11 depicts a black and gold Raptors logo beside Drake’s similarly coloured owl trademark.

In addition to the rumored black and gold, there are reports the Raptors could go with a more traditional blue and white to mesh with the Blue Jays.
