2013 Outback Bowl: LSU vs. Iowa game preview, odds and prediction

On Wednesday, the 2013 Outback Bowl will take place, and this year we’ll be treated to a match up between the 9-3 LSU Tigers of the Southeastern Conference and the 8-4 Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference.

LSU, as crazy as this may sound, might see their 9-3 record as a disappointment, given the hype coming into the season as potential national contenders. However, they had a lot of pieces to replace on that defense, and were still a force in the mighty SEC, which is to always be expected under Les Miles. In this one, though, they’ll be playing without their starting QB Zach Mettenberger, who went down with a knee injury in the season finale win over Arkansas.

Iowa, once again under Kirk Ferentz, were able to compete well in the Big Ten. They fought the Ohio State Buckeyes nearly down to the wire in their match up, and will look to recreate the outcome of the last time they played the Tigers in the postseason a few years ago.
