2013 Gator Bowl: Nebraska vs. Georgia game preview, odds and prediction

In the Gator Bowl on New Year’s Day, the Nebraska Cornhuskers of the Big Ten Conference will square off against the Georgia Bulldogs of the Southeastern Conference in what’s actually a rematch of last season’s Capital One Bowl.

Although this is a rematch of last year’s game, the teams will look a bit different. Both squads lost their long-time starting quarterbacks to injury during the year.

Nebraska signal caller Taylor Martinez had his season cut short while dealing with nagging turf toe, and Georgia’s Aaron Murray unfortunately had his stellar career cut short when he suffered a torn ACL against the Kentucky Wildcats late in the season.

Junior Hutson Mason will get the call in replace of Murray in this one for the Bulldogs, while Tommy Armstrong will make another start for Nebraska and head coach Bo Pelini.

Speaking of Pelini, a storyline to watch for in this one is how the outcome could impact his future in Lincoln, if that hasn’t already been decided.
