Lovie Smith will likely hire Leslie Frazier as his defensive coordinator wherever he ends up
By Peter Smith
Lovie Smith is arguably the most qualified head coach on the market right now and it appears if he has his choice of where he wants to coach. Wherever he does end up, Jason LaCanfora of CBS is reporting that now former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier would be his defensive coordinator.
Frazier was initially hired to be the head coach of the Vikings because of his prowess on defense. If Smith goes to the Lions, Frazier would have Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and Ezekiel Ansah up front with DeAndre Levy at the second level. If they end up with the Buccaneers, they would have Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David, Dashon Goldson and at least for the time being, Darrelle Revis.
In either situation, they would have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball that fits what they want to do schematically, so that team could be in tremendous hands and be able to contend quickly.
