MLB rumors: Cleveland Indians have no interest in Jake Westbrook

The Cleveland Indians shocked many during the 2013 season, much of their success coming from their starting pitching.

Unfortunately, the Tribe lost Scott Kazmir (who signed with the Oakland Athletics) and are likely to part ways with Ubaldo Jimenez who is commanding upwards of $20 million dollars annually.

That has left Cleveland in need of some arms.

One such arm who the Indians were rumored to have interest in would be Jake Westbrook who most recently pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals. Westbrook spent nearly a decade with the Indians prior to playing for St. Louis and a reunion was thought to be a strong possibility, but it appears Cleveland has moved on from such an idea:

The last time I checked the Cleveland Indians had no interest in Jake Westbrook. They were interested in Crain last season, but that cooled when he injured his right shoulder.

Westbrook would have likely been fine as a fifth starter had the Cleveland Indians been able to retain either Kazmir or Jimenez but with both leaving, the available money needs to be spent on finding a better arm.
