The contest gave fans the chance to choose Dustin Johnson’s playing partner for the first two rounds of the HTOC. I think the contest is a brilliant way to get fans involved, and I support more contests/initiatives bringing fans closer to the game.
In the final round of the 2013 PGA Championship, fans were allowed to vote on the hole location for the 15th hole. If memory serves, the fans voted for the most difficult hole location possible.
Choosing playing partners and hole locations are two easy ways to promote fan involvement. The players are unaffected, and the fans get what they want. What else should the PGA Tour be doing? Lower tickets prices, anyone?
