Don’t look now, but the Oklahoma Sooners showed up to play tonight in the Allstate Sugar Bowl and are currently shocking the Alabama Crimson Tide inside the Superdome in New Orleans.
After some questionable performances all year, marred by inconsistencies, Sooners QB Trevor Knight has been about as good as you could have asked him to be so far in the first half, and so have his wide receivers.
They’ve been so good actually, that they were able to take the lead on the vaunted Tide late in the second quarter on this play.
With about three minutes to go in the half, Knight dropped back and found Jalen Saunders for this deep touchdown strike that put the Sooners up 24-17 on the powers from the SEC:
This is certainly a shocker in New Orleans as no one really expected this to happen. Alabama was supposed to come out angry and looking to make a point, but instead, it’s Oklahoma that’s making the point tonight.
