The World Wide Leader in sports, ESPN, released its first ad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It is a bit long for a commercial at a minute and a half, but it is awesome still.

The ad starts out with a night time shot of Estádio do Maracanã, a stadium in Rio de Janeiro. It is a beautiful shot and above it in the hills you can see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue.

The rest of the ad is a blend of old footage and newer footage highlighting stars from this upcoming World Cup. It shows England’s David Beckham, France’s Zinedine Zidane and Argentina’s Diego Maradona to name a few.

It also includes local shots including locals performing on drums, juggling soccer balls and generally supporting the Brazilian team. It finishes highlighting some newer stars featured in this World Cup like Brazil’s Neymar, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
