Cornerback Tony Brown is considered the ninth-best overall player in in the class of 2014, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. He is also considered the third-best cornerback in a class that is absolutely loaded at the position.
Brown also has the distinction of being tabbed as the top player in the football rich state of Texas. Brown attends Ozen High School in Beaumont, which is at the Louisiana/Texas boarder. Despite being in Texas, the instate Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns never seemed like big players for Brown, at least not down the stretch. Instead, he has been considered an LSU Tigers lean with great interest in the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Brown has elite speed (4.35 40-yard dash), solid size (6’0, 188 lbs.) and was wanted by every program in the country.
On Thursday, during the Under Armour All-American Game, Brown committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
His sister, who runs track for LSU, was seen crying on stage before Brown made an announcement, but supported her brother’s decision, even giving a “Roll Tide” when she was asked about Brown’s future destination.
The Tide have now landed three of the top nine prospects as Brown will join the top offensive tackle, Cameron Robinson and the top defensive end, Da’Shawn Hand, at Alabama.
