Khabib Nurmagomedov's 'goals' in 2014

Khabib Nurmagomedov is an undefeated Russian Lightweight prospect. A lot of pundits already believe that Khabib could be one statement win away from a shot at the Lightweight title. Khabib is 5-0 in the UFC, and 21-0 overall. Most recently, Khabib dominated Lightweight stalwart, Pat Healy, en route to a unanimous decision victory back at UFC 165.

After the win, Khabib was linked to a bout with former StrikeForce Lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez, at UFC 170. As of this writing, however, the bout is still not official. Earlier today, a fan asked Khabib himself if the fight was official yet:

Hopefully the UFC can sure up the contract between the two men, and that fight can be finalized. If they do end up fighting, their fight could very well determine the #1 contender.

For Khabib, he has much bigger goals in 2014 than simply fighting Gilbert Melendez. In fact, Gilbert is the first step of Khabib’s plan for 2014:

The picture came along with the tagline ‘My plan for 2014′. We will soon find out if he gets his wish to fight Melendez come February. If he does get by Melendez, Khabib could very well be fighting for the UFC Lightweight championship when Anthony Pettis returns.
