Hughes moves step closer to Anfield move

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Championship outfit Derby County whereby the Reds now have first option on their brilliant young midfield player Will Hughes, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League giants have been keeping close tabs on the England Under-21 international for some time now and having agreed to let defender Andre Wisdom spend the rest of this campaign out on loan at Pride Park without the recourse to recall the right back, as had previously been the case in the first half of this season, Liverpool have now been given first refusal on Hughes.

Reds have not agreed £7m deal for Salah

Liverpool are interested in signing in-demand FC Basel wide man Mohamed Salah in this month’s transfer window, however, the Merseyside giants still remain some way off reaching an agreement with the Swiss champions for the player, according to reports in the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds have been heavily linked with the highly rated Switzerland international for some time now, but reports in Salah’s homeland suggesting the winger was due at Melwood this week for a medical ahead of a £7 million move to Anfield are believed to be wide of the mark though, with the Premier League giants understood to be just one of a number of clubs competing for the 21-year-old’s signature in January.

In fact, Liverpool are even prepared to wait until the end of the season in order to to sign Salah, when he will then be in the final two years of his contract.

Reds want Chelsea full back

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on signing out-of-favour Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand in January to help solve the club’s current shortage in that position, says the Daily Mirror.

However, the Merseysiders may be forced to pay over the odds for the England international, with the west London club still undecided as to whether or not they are willing to sell to a Premier League rival.

Rodgers ends Tello interest

Liverpool will not be taking FC Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello on a six-month loan deal in January, says the Liverpool Echo.

Recent reports in the highly rated Spain international’s homeland had suggested that Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers was keen to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield for the second half of this campaign.

However, while it is understood that the Northern Irishman did recently make an enquiry about Tello’s availability, Rodgers is believed to have now ended his interest in the forward and is exploring other attacking options instead.
