Despite a late season collapse from the Miami Dolphins and a major distraction inside of the locker room, head coach Joe Philbin is expected to retain his job. However, team owner Stephen Ross is unhappy with the way the season played out and he could still be looking to make some changes.
Ross has been meeting with his top advisers before deciding whether to fire anyone, two people familiar with the situation said.
One of the people said the meetings began Sunday night and will resume Thursday, and a decision could come then. That person said that during the Dolphins’ loss Sunday to the New York Jets, Ross became so upset he turned away at one point because he could no longer watch.
According to the AP report, the most likely men to be fired from Miami are offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and general manager Jeff Ireland.
If Ireland were to be fired, the fan base would likely rejoice.
We will have to wait and see whether or not those Dolphins fans wishes will come to fruition.
