Penn State announces committee for head coaching search

With the departure of Bill O’Brien to take over the Houston Texans, the Penn State Nittany Lions are now in search of a new head coach, their second since the ousting of Joe Paterno following the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

Given the fact that the NCAA announced this year that they are going to start easing up on the sanctions that were handed down, this search is going to be a little different than it was when they hired O’Brien. At that time, virtually no one with any sort of credibility wanted to take the gamble of going to Happy Valley.

But now, with things getting a lot easier, Penn State has become a coveted job once again, so the search needs to be precise this time around. Not to say that it wasn’t the last time, but there’s a lot more to factor in this time around.

So in preparation, Penn State has announced the formation of a search committee to help seek out the new head man in State College:

Dave Joyner is the athletic director for the school, Tom Poole is the vice president of administration, Bob Warming is the head men’s soccer coach, Charmelle Green is the associate athletic director, Linda Caldwell is the faculty representative and Wally Richardson is the Lettermen’s representative as well as former QB for the program.
