The Portland Trail Blazers selected Lehigh guard C.J. McCollum with the 10th overall pick in the 2013 draft, hoping that they could pair him with another small school guard – star point guard Damian Lillard, who attended Weber State.

Things haven’t worked out this way. McCollum suffered a foot injury and hasn’t played this season.

He will make his debut this weekend with the Trail Blazers’ D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. They’ll play two games against the Rio Grande Vipers.

“We’re going over stuff right now,” McCollum told the official Trail Blazers site last week. “Hopefully I’ll be back soon. I know there’s no definite date penciled in yet, but hopefully we can get one soon to kind of get it going.”

If all goes well this weekend, McCollum will make his NBA debut Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, according to Yahoo Sports.

“I’m just looking to get back into a rhythm and finish out the last requirement of my rehab phase,” McCollum told Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.

McCollum averaged 23.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for Lehigh last season before fracturing his foot.
