Russell Westbrook had knee surgery again, and is expected to be out until after the All-Star Break. Well, if you know Russell Wesbrook, then you know that he is a freak of nature, and his recovery time is always a fluid situation.
When he had knee surgery before the season started, he was expected to be out until December, but he came back a month early. Now, while the world waits for his return, Westbrook seems to be on track to return before his initial timetable. According to Royce Young of Daily Thunder (and CBS), Westbrook is already off crutches, and is looking good.
Young also goes on to say that Thunder head coach Scott Brooks has no worries about Westbrook’s injury lingering long term, and that he could be cleared to play if he shows that he is fully healed. If I’m Oklahoma City, I’m taking my time with this injury, and would hold him out extended time to make sure everything is fine. This team is all about April, May, and June, so why rush him back in January? Either way, it wouldn’t be surprising if Westbrook suits up in the near future.
