Sugar Bowl 2014: Sooner extend lead to 31-17 after Sterling Shepard TD (GIF)

The Oklahoma Sooners were looking at a tall task in upsetting the favored Alabama Crimson Tide, as not only were they facing the third ranked team in the country but they were acing an Alabama team fuming over their loss to Auburn still a month after the fact. But while we all were betting on Nick Saban’s squad to pour it on the Sooners, the reverse has been case and it’s Oklahoma on the right end of a bowl game blowout.

Leave it to the Tide to give us the first unexciting bowl game of the season as the blowout continued late into the Sugar Bowl thanks to a Sterling Shepard touchdown run that extended the Sooners lead to 31-17.

Nick Saban may have signed a fat extension to keep him in Tuscaloosa, but all the action is in Oklahoma tonight as the Sooners are pulling off the improbable upset almost every college football fan in the country was rooting for. The real loser here is Florida State who are getting the best team in Alabama and not the second rate performance that the Tide are putting out in the Sugar Bowl.
