Top 25 NCAA basketball schedule and predictions (Jan. 2)

There are six AP Top 25 college basketball teams in action tonight.  Here is a list of the games and predictions.

Washington State Cougars at No. 1 Arizona Wildcats at 10 pm on the Pac-12 Network.  Washington State has the worst record in the Pac-12 at 7-5, but as the conference opener, the Wildcats must take the game seriously.  Expect a 12-point victory by Arizona.

No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers at Northwestern Wildcats at 7 pm on ESPN 2. Wisconsin is undefeated at 13-0, and will be looking for a statement road win in their Big Ten Conference opener.  Expect a 20-point victory for the Badgers.

No. 8 Wichita State Shockers at Southern Illinois Salukis at 8:05 pm ET on ESPN 3.  Wichita State should dominate in its Missouri Valley Conference opener against the Salukis.  Expect Wichita State to win by 25, and to stay undefeated until a January 25th road game at Drake.

No. 10 Oregon Ducks at Utah Utes at 8 pm ET on the Pac-12 Network.  The best conference opener of the night.  The Ducks are 12-0 and the Utes are 11-1.  The Pac-12 is stacked with good teams, and Utah is looking for respect on the national stage. Utah wins by two points.

Oregon State Beavers at No. 20 Colorado Buffaloes at 10 pm ET on ESPN U. Colorado has played big games this year and Oregon State has not.  The Buffaloes’ experience and home court advantage will allow the shots to drop. Colorado wins by 10 points.

Saint Mary’s Gaels at No. 24 Gonzaga Bulldogs at 9 pm ET on ESPN 2.  Upset watch! The Bulldogs have injuries, and Saint Mary’s won’t let their rivals beat them again.  The Gaels win by five points.
