Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston has had himself one of the most successful debut campaigns in the history of college football. He’s thrown for over 3,800 yards, 38 touchdowns, he’s shattered conference and school records and won a Heisman Trophy. He’ll have a chance to put the cherry on top Monday if he and his team can defeat the Auburn Tigers and claim the final BCS Championship.
Naturally, while in high school, you would have to think that Winston dreamed of doing all of this. He did, but he wanted to do it as a Texas Longhorn, not a Florida State Seminole.
After Winston began to break out earlier this season, we learned that he wanted to go play football for the Mack Brown and the Longhorns, however we got conflicting stories.
Winston said he continually reached out to Texas and Brown, but they showed no interest. Brown claims that he was told not to pursue Winston because he had no interest in coming to Austin.
On Friday, while the Florida State offense spoke to the media prior to Monday’s match up, Winston once again reiterated how badly he wanted to do everything that he has done, but do it in a burnt orange and white uniform:
Jameis Winston on if his HS coach called Mack Brown about him 5 times: “Oh yeah! I even tried to call. I wanted to go to Texas bad!”

That stings, Longhorn fans, even more so seeing what Winston has done throughout an entire season.
