After his name was brought up as being a target for the Texas Longhorns head coaching job, Jim Mora Jr. has taken his name out of the search. Mora is happy in Westwood coaching the UCLA Bruins, having just guided them to a 10-3 record and a lopsided victory in the Sun Bowl against Virginia Tech.
The ‘dream job’ for Mora was supposed to be Washington, but when that became available, he declined interest there as well. It just seems as though getting Mora out of Westwood will be an extremely difficult task and may be virtually impossible right now. Mora has helped lead UCLA to being the best team in Los Angeles and the school is making a substantial investment to improve the school’s facilities.
For the Longhorns, Mora and Art Briles are reported to have turned down the idea of going to Austin. Names like Charlie Strong from Louisville and Mike Gundy from Oklahoma State are floating around as well as talk of Jimbo Fisher from Florida State.
