The No. 20 Colorado Buffaloes defeated the Oregon State Beavers 64-58 at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colorado. The Buffaloes improved to 12-2, and the Beavers fell to 8-5.
Colorado needed to establish itself as a Pac-12 contender, and the Buffaloes delivered.
Colorado led by as much as 10 points in the second half, but the Beavers closed the deficit, tying the game at 40 with 10:35 to go in the second. The Buffaloes pulled away to grab another 10-point lead, but Oregon State fought back to get within four points with 2:17 in the game. The Beaver offense went cold over the final couple minutes, and Colorado managed to hit four of eight from the line to win by six.
Considering Oregon State has not beaten a ranked team on the road in about 28 years, they put up a strong effort. In the end, the three ball kept the Beavers in the game, hitting eight of fifteen from downtown, but the 17 turnovers killed their chances.
Colorado was led by Josh Scott, Askia Booker, and Jaron Hopkins, who all netted 13 points. Scott added 10 rebounds, and Booker stole the ball four times. Xavier Johnson finished with nine points and nine rebounds, and Spencer Dinwiddie scored nine points, dropped five dimes, and had three steals.
