Joel James, forward for the North Carolina Tar Heels, suffered a sprained MCL a few games ago against Texas, will likely be out of the team’s ACC opener on Sunday against Wake Forest.
“He did participate in some of our [practice] stuff today, but I think it’s a little bit of a push to try to get him there,” coach Roy Williams said. “I’m not going to say completely, but I don’t think so.”
But James isn’t the only UNC player who is in danger of missing Sunday’s game. Forward Brice Johnson is also at risk, much like James.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with starting for Brice. I think he was just in a little bit of a funk,” Williams said. “… I could very easily start Brice again [Sunday].”
North Carolina may be just fine on Sunday without James and even Johnson, but extra players that are healthy means extra depth, and extra depth is always nice, no matter what team you’re talking about.
