2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl: Nyles Morgan commits to Notre Dame

Nyles Morgan (Crete, Ill. Crete-Monee) committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl over the Ole Miss Rebels and Vanderbilt Commodores.

The 6-1, 225-pound four-star middle linebacker is the nation’s No. 54 ranked player, No. 3 inside linebacker and No. 2 recruit in the state of Illinois.

Former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin served as Morgan’s primary recruiter, but despite his leaving Notre Dame to be the head coach at Miami(Oh), Morgan didn’t favor on his interest in Notre Dame because of their football and academic prowess.

Vanderbilt were the early leaders for Morgan and then the Rebels took the lead for Morgan where two of his high school teammates are on the roster, including last year’s No. 1 wide receiver recruit Laquon Treadwell, but Notre Dame moved to the front after his Oct. 19 official visit.

After that visit, Morgan took two more unofficial visits to South Bend where he will have last year’s No. 1 outside linebacker recruit Jaylon Smith flanked beside him in what figures to be a terrific duo for the Irish defense the next couple years.
