The Cincinnati Bearcats got themselves a tremendous road victory on Saturday as they defeated the no. 18 Memphis Tigers on the road in the FedEx Forum, 69-53.
Three Cincinnati starters scored in double figures, led by point guard Sean Kilpatrick who dropped in 18 points on the night on 5-of-11 shooting. He also went 7-of-9 from the free throw stripe.
Forward Justin Jackson finished his afternoon with 13 points and Shaquille Thomas added in 10 to help lead the Bearcats to the road win.
The contest was tight at the half with Cincinnati taking a slim 27-26 lead into the locker room. In the second half, though, this Bearcats team went off, outscoring the Tigers 42-27 in the final 20 minutes.
In the loss, head coach Josh Pastner and Memphis got another gritty output from guard Joe Jackson who led the Tigers in defeat with 13 points on the afternoon on 6-of-13 shooting.
But in the end, Cincinnati was just too much, especially in the second half down the stretch. This was a huge road victory in the American Athletic Conference for this Cincinnati squad against a very talented Memphis team, sending a pretty solid message to the rest of the conference.
