Clemson head coach takes shot at Steve Spurrier in Orange Bowl speech (Video)

On New Year’s Day, Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks got a Capital One Bowl win. Spurrier got a hold of the microphone and decided to address the crowd. He starts by thanking all the South Carolina fans for coming down to Florida to the game and says they were the difference in the game.

Then he decides to take a shot at Clemson, who is waiting to play in the Orange Bowl, you know the BCS Bowl. He says the two Capital One Bowls in a row is nice, but the state championship “ain’t bad either.”

Well Clemson was playing in the more prestigious BCS Orange Bowl on Friday night. Like the Gamecocks, the Tigers won their bowl game. During the post-game trophy presentation Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney fired back a shot at Spurrier.

“We’re the first team from the state of South Carolina to ever win a BCS game,” Swinney told the crowd.

Easier to do when you play in a conference like the ACC. The pathetic part about DABO’s statement is that Clemson didn’t win a BCS game sooner. USC has to compete with great programs like Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Missouri, LSU, and A&M every year for 2 spots in BCS. Who does Clemson have to worry about? Florida State and that’s it. DABO and his Clemson followers have no sense of reason and look stupid nationally.

    Spurrier’s was better.
