When rapper turned mogul Jay Z entered the agent game, it was laughed off by many of his would be associates and counterparts. But the hip-hop artist, in collaboration with his Roc Nation Sports agency has secured representation for high profile athletes like Robinson Cano and Victor Cruz and now may have their eyes set on college football’s biggest marketing prize – Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel.
Manziel has yet to officially declare for the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft, but it’s expected he’ll do so and according to the New York Post, the Jigga Man wants in:
Could Texas A&M’s stud quarterback Johnny Manziel be the next athlete to sign with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports?
Speculation swelled that Manziel, who led a thrilling comeback over Duke in the Chick Fil-A Bowl, could be the next recruit for the rapper-turned-sports agent after the two partied at the same Miami club Thursday with a host of VIPs.
For what it’s worth, Manziel and Jay didn’t interact – at least not in public, which was likely a smart move considering Hov found himself in hot water last year for his recruitment of New York Jets signal caller Geno Smith.
In addition to Manziel, Roc Nation Sports is also said to be targeting Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
