We’re just weeks away from the Sochi Olympics which means that Jimmy Fallon’s debut as the new host of the Tonight Show is just around the corner. Ever since it was announced this summer, fans of Fallon and of the Tonight Show have been wondering how well the former SNL star will do when he steps into Jay Leno’s shoes.
NBC released the first promo for Fallon’s debut on Saturday and plan on teasing it all throughout the NFL’s Wild Card Weekend and into the coming weeks ahead of his debut in February.
The promo stays away from the goofs and the silliness for the most part and instead makes Fallon’s arrival to the Tonight Show a s somewhat historic event. He is, after all, just the third host in over four decades to step into the role of Tonight Show host as he follows Johnny Carson and Jay Leno in hosting duties.
Fallon has carved out a very decent post-SNL career for himself and is well equipped to hold things down in place of Leno on the show. We won’t find out until February how he actually does but NBC is well behind this move and aren’t trying to make light of the debut in any way shape or form.
