MLB rumors: Baltimore Orioles on signing A.J. Burnett: 'We're still working on that'

The Baltimore Orioles have had a strange offseason.

They’ve been rumored to be interested in just about every big name and have had contractual discussions with many of them. Add in that their lone big splash, the signing of Grant Balfour, was voided and it’s been quite a unique stretch.

Baltimore has also been reportedly waiting on free agent pitcher A.J. Burnett to make a decision about his future for weeks – something they continue to do.

Executive vice president Dan Duquette said he’s still trying to “do something to help the pitching staff between now and when we open.”

“We’re still working on that,” he said.

The Orioles still have yet to receive a firm answer from Burnett in regards to his retirement decision, so it’s being reported by MASN Sports that they will begin to explore other opportunities.

Regardless, they’re still interested in Burnett if he decides he’d like to pitch another season.
