This past season, Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston took the world by storm. He’s led the ‘Noles to an undefeated regular season, an ACC championship and an upcoming appearance in the BCS National Championship. He also became the third player in the history of the Florida State football program to take home the coveted Heisman Trophy in a landslide vote. Winston added his name to the list that included the 1993 winner, Charlie Ward, and the 2000 winner, Chris Weinke. Both of those quarterbacks also brought Florida State a national championship, another list that Winston would like to add his name to on Monday night. You know which quarterback didn’t win a Heisman nor a national championship for Florida State? Chris Rix. Rix, now a broadcaster, started four years in Tallahassee from 2001-04. While Rix did leave the school with a winning record and some ACC championships, he did not play near the level that Seminole fans were used to seeing from someone under center. He was wildly inconsistent and made some questionable decisions, to put it lightly. Don’t tell that, though, to James Koh of FOX-11 in Los Angeles who either didn’t know who Rix actually was when they brought him on to talk the upcoming game against Auburn, or went out of his way to give Rix some false credit as he referred to Rix as a “former Heisman.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAPSb7ichw0#t=0 Florida State fans would very much like to debate this.
