Robert Lewandowski agrees to join Bayern Munich

German newspaper Bild is reporting that Borussia Dortmund striker and superstar has agreed to terms on a five-year deal with their rivals, Bayern Munich. Reports suggest that the deal is worth $11 million euros a year.

It is a pre-contract essentially, and signing a deal in January wouldn’t move him immediately, he’d still finish out the season with Dortmund until his contract expires in June.

The newspaper Abendzeitung photographed Lewandowski arriving at the premises of Bayern’s club doctor, Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, on Saturday morning.

Not only are the two bitter Bundesliga rivals, they also faced off in the UEFA Champions League final last year, which Dortmund lost to Munich. Lewandowski would be the second player to jump from Dortmund to Munich following that game. This summer, midfielder Mario Götze made the move.

The move comes after a rough three game streak in Bundesliga play where they’ve lost twice and tied once. The news adds insult to injury a bit.
