The 2014 World Junior Championships are well under way and the first semifinal game was a match up between Russia and Sweden. The game wasn’t without controversy and drama though.

The third period was a bit tense and it finally bubbled over as the clock went down to zero. Sweden won the game 2-1, and as the team piled onto the ice to celebrate a fight broke out along the boards.

Sweden’s Jesper Pettersson was in the penalty box and skated straight towards the brawl. He jumped Russia’s Andrei Mironov and began throwing punches.

Pretty sure that isn’t allowed and some kind of penalty will be handed down for that. A suspension for the tournament final would seem to be in the future.

Anyways, if you haven’t been watching the World Junior Championships you should check it out. It has been an entertaining tournament this year and a lot of fun to watch.
