It appears the Memphis Grizzlies will be getting their franchise big man back in the relatively near future as the team announced Gasol was cleared for ‘light work’ on Sunday.

Gasol’s 6 wk MRI was good on Friday. Only cleared 4 light court work

The fact that his MRI came back clean is about as positive a sign as one can ask for, so it seemingly is just a matter of time until Gasol is back manning the middle for the Grizzlies.

Of course, how soon that might happen is still unknown.

Gasol just passed his six week time frame (was expected to miss six to eight weeks) and back on December 20th, doctors suggested he would likely be able to return in ‘around twenty days’. That suggests Gasol will likely be back during January, though it’s possible Memphis may play it safe with Gasol and just give him a minute restriction until the February All-Star break.

Regardless, Gasol is nearing a return for the Grizzlies who are in serious need of a presence in the middle.
