The Texas Rangers are getting pitcher Neftali Feliz back after he had Tommy John surgery. Feliz says that he finally feels like he is back to 100 percent and is good to go.

“Thank God, I feel 100 percent after the surgery, finally,” Feliz told the Texas Rangers’ website. “I feel like me again.”

“This has been a big test in my career,” Feliz said. “I have been working hard. I want to be back as I was. I thank God for being with me every day I’ve been working to be back. Also I thank all the trainers that have been guiding me in my journey to pitch again — to be ready and be back and pitch in the World Series and win.”

The Rangers had dabbled with Feliz as a starter, but there were reports that he will return to his role as the Rangers’ closer. With Joe Nathan, who had been filling in, gone now the job is open.

“Yes, I want to be a reliever the rest of my career. A closer.”

Feliz was solid in the role during their run of back-to-back American League championships.
